Total Station Setup
Prepare Before You Leave:

Ensure you have all information and drawings in your EDM and controller before leaving the office.

Make sure your equipment is ready to go—batteries are full, and you know exactly what you're doing.
Safety First:
-
Once on-site, choose the safest place to set up your Total Station—away from ongoing work.

Ensure you can clearly see your target and plan for resection, using at least three targets for accuracy.
Setting Up the Tripod:

Position the tripod around chest height to keep the instrument at a comfortable level for target sighting.

Secure the tripod on solid ground to prevent sliding—press it down lightly on concrete or use a cord if necessary.
Attaching the EDM:

Gently remove the EDM from its box, making sure not to shake or damage it.

Place the EDM carefully on the tripod and secure it with the tripod bolt.
Leveling the Instrument:

Begin by ensuring the tripod is already set to a level position.

Use the leveling bubble and adjust the two leveling bolts to align the instrument accurately in both directions.
Configure Logging and Test the Connection

Set logging preferences and test the connection to verify setup success.
Turn On the Total Station:

While leveling, power on the Total Station as it may take some time to boot up.

Double-check the bubble level and make adjustments if necessary for more precision.
Check Network Status

Go to Internet Status on the CS20 to check signal strength, helpful when diagnosing connection issues with Wi-Fi or a SIM card.
